My mini schnauzer Popcorn is a sucker for treats. She should really be on the Schmackos ad – she recognises the sights, smell and even sound of a pack of these dog treats through closed doors, out of the house and into the garage where they are kept.
She knows she will score a doggy treat whenever we leave the house and so she trots outside – not easy when you are a senior citizen hound with arthritis – and patiently sits and waits.
I made these easy doggy biscuits for her ages ago and forgot to blog them. They were so popular with her that when Miss 10’s Brownie Guide troop had a baking stall I made a few batches – and they were the first thing to sell out! We bagged them and charged a few dollars and people went crazy for them.
These peanut butter dog treats are quick and simple to make and if you use a bone-shaped cutter they look super cute. I tweaked a recipe from allrecipes.com.au
I must say, Miss8 also loved these bickies…
Here’s to furry friends all over the world ;)
GATHER:
2 cups wholemeal flour
270g unsalted natural peanut butter
1 cup low fat milk
LET’S GET TO IT:
Preheat oven to 180C and line 2 baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
In a large bowl stir together the peanut butter and milk, then stir in flour until it comes together.
Spread a light dusting of flour over the bench, tip out dough and knead until smooth. Cover with a piece of baking paper and use a rolling pin to roll out to 2cm thick.
Dip the cookie cutters into flour, cut out shape, then place on trays, allowing room to spread.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, depending on the size of your cutters. Sit on trays for 5 minutes before removing to cooling racks.
